ProEx – Economic Aspects of Process Management Systems
Currently, two paradigms with respect to the development of Business Process Management are discussed controversially. In particular, adaptive Process Management Systems (e.g., Tibco InConcert, ADEPT) are concurring with Case Handling Systems (e.g., Flower). Both paradigms address the support of flexible business processes. Besides, commercial Business Process Management Systems (e.g., Staffware, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle) are in place. These systems, however, have not been especially designed to deal with the requirements with respect to flexibility. In the course of a family of experiments the different approaches should be compared. Of special interest are the effectivity and efficacy of process implementation and process changes as well as the handling of exceptional situations.
